The Day After...

Kitties...this is the day after seeing that precious black panfer. As I am going on several trips with in a few weeks, it would be better not to bring anyone home with me yet, I won't be here.

Many of you know that I stayed home the past 20 months with maybe one 36 hr. trip because Admiral would only allow me to medicate her...she hid from the sitter and being boarded broke her heart. So, I am going to travel a tad and then, I will have a new small warm beautiful little love.

I have spent so much on Admiral's care in the past 3 years, especially the past year in particular I don't think I can't really afford the Vet care for two babies. I thought of that, having two-- but the expense and the smallness of this home make me hesitant. All arguments for 2 are completely right. Money however is another matter.

I WILL follow all the advice about feeding. Believe me, I don't ever ever EVER want to go thru this heartache again. I mean the illnesses that MAY have been prevented..maybe. It's worth it to me to feed wet foods only. AND to pick out the grain free wet foods, maybe even a treat of dry occasionally..

One of the silly pleasures I have always had is listening to the cats crack their kibble. I love that sound. It never fails to make me smile. But never again at their expense if that's (grain) what it is.
that makes them ill with certain problems.

I hope to have another love to share with me very soon. And I WILL heed all advice that I am able. I won't rule out 2 babies altogether but it's not very likely though. Very small home aside from the expense. IF I see the panfer again and the pull is as strong, then home he comes. If not, another baby will find me.

Thank you for caring so much that you took the time to write me and give excellent advice..which I assure you WILL be heeded. I appreciate each one of the comments more than you may know, I promise.

Guess What I did?

Kitties! I, as Mom Carole went to Pet Smart and saw some sweeties tonight. I also went to another place, AgriFeed and saw some kitties there too last week. But tonight, we were all at the Pet Smart and oh, my goodness there was a four month old little black house panfer in there whose card said "I have a LOUD purr!!" He was so small..his little face so pointed..a tiny widdle nosey and his little body so sleek and sturdy. WE stood right there as close to the glass as possible. It was late so no one was in attendance specifically as we three gazed adoringly into the place he was. there were other babies there too of course. But this little house panfer rubbed his sweet face on the glass, put his arm out and touched the glass... we were just so charmed and falling in love. However, it's still too soon for me.

It's a boy. And no, I didn't bring his precious self home. I have several questions to ask of you. Yes, he's been neutered BUT: 1. Would he not want to spray in a house so completely my girl's? I mean, she has lived her 14 years and her furs, her markings from her scent glands are everywhere.

2. How would one feed a boy cat to keep those crystals from forming in the urinary tract?

3. Would one allow 100% access to all of the house--- all at once or just a part of it until he or she gets used to their new home. I meant any new kitty in the house I might bring home.

Any and all advice welcome.

Oh MY!

I was teary on Thursday morning last week as I dressed and made my bed before leaving the house. But to make the bed and getting dressed a little more visible, I turned on the big light in the bedroom.

As I approached the head of the bed to get started, my eye fell on something small..pebble sized object perhaps, on the carpet right where Admiral used to walk. Her route to UTB.

I leaned down to pick it up knowing full well what it was. My girl had been at her toilette that morning before her morning nap after breakfast, and having long fluffy pantaloons, um..well, actually, kinda sorta a small offering clung to her back feathers and-- well, sorta dropped away. She would have been mortified had she known. BUT it was a certain sure reminder of her and I placed the hard little marble on the windowsill not even 24 hrs. after she flew away and actually SMILED! I even chuckled. Then, I bawled-- but looking at it again and telling some friends, I laughed again. I know, you think I'm crazy. That's OK. It's not there now but for a little while it did make me smile.

THE girly in my life.

I was blessed by being led to and owned by a special very very loving little girl. Oh..she didn't start out that way particularly. She was a high spirited kitten when she came to me and of course...she was a Tortie, like---duh! BUT as time flowed on, she mellowed and became a completely momma's girl, excepting my oldest boy Erich, whom she saw every week and loved. (and stole his bacons each Saturday morning...what a little ruffian she was!)

When I went over the Mountains to visit another son in NC, I would only leave her from 9 am Friday till 3 PM Sunday but to her..it was a lifetime and when I got home, she would greet me despite my having cruelly left her with her 2 times a day sitter! and I would lay on the floor right after turning off the alarm, and we would snuggle, kiss and I would get caught up on my share of long Tortie furs all over my snoot and in my clothes and hair. We'd love on one another for 10 minutes before I returned to the car for my bag and whatever else was in there.

The heart melting part came when we went to bed. I would be on my back, having picked up my book and here she came..a leap onto the bed from the wooden chest at the foot of our bed, and then, a stately walk up to my chest to look at me..just a detour to her usual nesting place of in my neck and shoulder. These times she would do that but shift to lying straight down my left arm, and gather my wrist in her two hands and hold it. Then, to enchant me forever, my baby laid her sweet head in the palm of my hand. Purring loudly, she would drift off to sleep...still holding my hand with hers, and her sweet head in my palm.

Of course I was paralyzed into place so as not to disturb her and that precious act of love.. my nose twitching, my back hurting, my legs just bustin' for me to turn over but there I laid until she herself was ready to move.

What a total lovebug she was. xoxoxoxoxo

To All of Her Furiends and Mine as Well

Furiends, mommies and daddies, I can't even find good enough words to tell you what it meant and means to me as Admiral's bereft Mommy to read these heartfelt, loving and dear words. They are like balm falling on an aching heart. They are food and drink right now when I am not able to eat much.

You realize what my little one meant to me and I to her. We were a team. Her Hypercalcimia is what took her from me. We knew it would and her Dr tried so hard to make her comfortable. She would rally and I would be filled with hope. Then after a few weeks she would fail. I didn't want to make you tread those ups and downs with us so unless she went to the hospital, Admiral spoke of other things.

But she has been failing the past three weeks and I could see the only things that mattered to her was some food but most of all my surrounding her with my arms and loving on her. Kisses all over her sweet little warm fur body and murmuring in her sweet ears. She had nothing else to look forward to but my love surrounding her so I looked hard at myself. I saw that I was mightily avoiding the pain I knew was coming-- but at a cost. Her cost.

Now: I will continue as Admiral's mommy to come and see you in a few days and comment. I would miss all of you terribly as you've all come to mean so much to me and to the Admiral. So if you agree, I myself, the mommy will come and see you and you need not return the visit here. I want to keep up with all of you kitties and woofies. One day Admiral may lead another little girl to me..when she does, I will tell you here and on the CB so we may all become furiends with a new baby.

See you in a few days, dear furiends if you don't mind that its me, the mom for now. I truly love you all. I do. xoxoxox

Fly Away Home

My little one flew away to the Rainbow Bridge today. We, her Doctor and I have worked very hard to enable her able to enjoy her life and all the love she has received and that she freely gave back, but she was tired and whispered it was time to go. She flew away and took my heart with her. I will always love her and I will always miss her. She was the most loving girl I could ever have been fortunate enough to have. We have just sailed that sea of grief and tears as far as we were able to go together. Thank you darling girl, for choosing me to take care of you and love you these fourteen years.

To all of her friends, thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring about my girl in the last stages of her illness. You have truly been a comfort. Much love to you all.

Meowy Monday

Kitties, there were so many kitties in the pile that the bed was covered. The purring sounded like a choo choo train in the distance. The warmth from all of the beautiful gleaming kitties piled up made the house warm! What a celebration and how fun! And Mom got to kiss everyone...she is SO always wanting to kiss the heads of warm purring kitties. Sorry..I couldn't control her. Sigh.

The boxes around here got shredded and bitten nicely. And the TP too. Mom didn't say a word I noticed so she must have put those extra ones out for your entertainment. All of the chairs and cushions are furred so I'm glad those were tried out before and after our cuddlepile. Hope efurrybuddy enjoyed the treats and cat milk for refreshments. There was always somebuddy snacking cause mom said the kittehs cracking open the treats and Temptations sounded like popcorn popping there were so many at the same time. Nom nom nom. I made sure we called the Porta-Litterbox company to accomodate our cuddlepile guests. That worked out great! They'll be here to pick those up this morning.

I had the bestest birfday effur! Thank you my furriends for coming over and piling on.

Easy on Sunday

Kitties, it's my birthday and I am going to take it extra easy today. I'd like a kitty pile on our bed for my birthday. Nice and warm and purring, just like me. I'll just nod off here and see what happens and if my wish comes true.

Grateful Saturday

Kitties! I came this close to a very bad situation yesterday morning!

Mom had gone to work out in the morning and stopped at the grocery store to buy a half a gallon of milk and three others items..half and half, etc. She came home, gathered the three plastic grocery bags from the car, stepped up and unlocked the kitchen door. I was there to greet her of course.

She laid the three little bags on the dryer or tried to so she could lean down and greet me, when a horrible crash happened. The half a gallon of milk fell through the plastic bag and hit the floor. Kitties, that half a gallon of milk fell right next to me. It may have brushed my furs it hit that close. Mom's life flashed in front of her eyes. She would have been completely destroyed if that had hit me. Thankfully it did not and she does not like to think of what would-have-been if it had. The jug burst open and there was milk running everywhere. Me, I stayed right there and investigated the streams of milk running rapidly everywhere on our wooden floor.

I didn't startle, I only moved a foot or so as mom frantically tried to gather anything to stem the flood and get the rapidly emptying jug off the floor and into the sink. Even towels from the bathroom.

Mom stopped to apologize to and to pet me as she threw towels into the cold white mess. I was calm. It was a horrible few moments for her but my trust in her and her care of me is so intact I knew she wasn't doing anything to cause me hurt. She told me that sometimes there are things that happen that are not her plan or doing although she tries to protect me always. I know she does, and she's my hero.

Furry Friday

Kitties! I have had a big breakfast and a long drink of water (see my chin) and I'm in my box for the next half hour or so...or at least until mom tries to make the bed and get ready for the day. Then I'll ask to play or be brushed or fed again, get served some cat milk, a nice Pounce treat or any NUMBER of things. That's the way I roll.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

When the day is rainy gray and dreary, tuck your nosey into the pom pom of your tail and nap.

Tortie Tuesday

Kitties. I tried to take a shower in the water bowl and succeeded fairly well as evidenced by my new picture. Of course, the minute mom started to focus, I turned my head. Why change now at this late late I always say. BUT the droplets are there on my face and creamy bib and I was very refreshed. Mom was very busy with paper towels in the area of the water bowl however. I was in my Pool and Spa area when I took my shower. (our tee tiny bathroom).

I am really particular about my pill pockets. Mom is paying attention to the freshness dates before she buys them and happened to have bought a stand-by packet yesterday which are the freshest of all. Good thing because I decided my opened-last-week bag wasn't fresh enough (they run out in March) so she had this new one to crack open. Sigh. I ate the pill right down after she changed pill pockets.
