It's Been a Good Day..Yes it Has.

I have had a good day. Well, the family have had a good day. I have been a little querelous but then, I am these days, However..I have gone to the sunny side of the house and I'm basking in it as she types for me. I think mom is a good secretary and I believe I will keep her doing this. She can do it faster than I can.

She told me while she was brushing me that for the first time in a long long time, she has no interest in blogging yesterday or today so she has not. Oh, I caused her to put a picture up of me that she just took but that was all.

Mom has had fun putting my photos in the cat forums on Flickr. I love being admired! She put one in a few minutes ago of an embarrassing time for me. It was Christmas, everyone was there and her oldest was holding one of my treats up and I..yes, *I* was photographed begging!

Here is that picture I am speaking of. Heck, once she has posted it to Flickr, may as well just show everyone! Not the begging one though. You'll have to go to Flickr for that embarrassment to me.

It's off to under the bed I go

I was awfully nice to mom for two days and nights but I am back to not sleeping with her again no matter that she calls me for 5 minutes or so after she settles in bed. I don't know why I am doing that again. Maybe when my favorite red fleece blankie goes on her bed again as the weather cools, I will go back. Right now, she is typing for me as I left notes for her as to what I wanted to say. I am presently under her desk and I am snoring rather engagingly. Mom loves to hear it..even when I am sleeping snugged against her face at night (when I choose to sleep with her)she loves to hear the little snores.

Mom uploaded some more of my pictures to Flickr so that she could put them in the cat forums. I think I am gorgeous!!! Ooops I woke up at that. I'm stretching and soon to begin ignoring her when she heads in to bed.

Mom uploaded some hummingbird pictures to her blog Sunday and Monday if any of her friends wish to look at the album. She also out some in Flickr. Those hummingbirds were up close and in her hand as she attended a hummingbird banding going on in North Carolina last weekend. She got to adopt one and I can't even have a taste!!! That is not mom's hand. That is the hand of the hummingbird bander in the Park. Mom took the picture.

Hope to see you soon..mom is going to bed..she's extra sleepy.

Sometimes You See things More Clearly

My human mom was gone all day Friday, Saturday and came home late Sunday. Gosh, I didn't think she was ever coming back! I worried and worried. My mom had a pro pet sitter come in to make sure I had fresh water and plenty of it..and my foods. To play with me too if I would only allow it. I did not. However, the long note from the sitter to my human said I just rearranged my wet food on my plate. Usually I wolf it down and then start on my Science Diet dry. This time..not much of either.

BUT when mom came home..I was so glad to see her! I even let her medicate me right away. I asked to be brushed. I enjoyed being in the doorway with the sun shining thru the glass onto my newly burnished fur. But..not much else. Mom was so sleepy from her trip and staying up late that she went to bed at 2200 and turned out the light immediately. For the first time in close to five months, I jumped up onto the bed..laid on her chest like a small Sphinx, and then, taking her hand into both of my paws, I laid my head atop both her hands and mine. Just like old times. Mom thought I would never do that again as I have been stand offish. I was just so glad to see her again I had to be near her. Several times in the night, I meowed politely..just once each time, and climbed up to scent her hair and face..sniff her ears and eyes to see if she was in there..gathered up her hand again and fell asleep on it. I love her and knowing she is near again.

Today I ate all of my breakfast down to the last smidgen! I am a happy girl again.

She had to go off and get groceries, and take the car in for service. That made me nervous but I realized that she had not turned the burglar alarm on. Whew. that meant it was a shirt time gone. After I type this I am going to repose in the sun again and enjoy my afternoon.

Meows and purrs.

Oh no...not again

My human mom is headed off across the mountains this morning. She managed to trick me sufficiently to get my thyroid meds applied to my ear skin when she was scratching my ears and making me purr..BAM! she applied that stuff. I didn't even notice, She had to get it done early because she's leaving mid morning and could not afford to wait for my decision as to a good time.
The Vet gave her permission to do 5 out of 7 applications a week. So when she gets home Sunday I will be due one. IF I don't punish her by staying away. All bets are off these past few months. I used to surround her every second after a trip. She's been too afraid to make a trip for 4 and a half months now, since I was diagnosed..until she got me stabilized on my meds. So this is her first trip since I have been sick.

She IS leaving me in the capable hands of a pro pet sitter though. Not that the pet sitter has ever seen me. I hide way under the bed. She just checks to make sure I seem to be OK. Then, she tends to my needs..clean water, full dry food bowl..my fave Fancy Feast and a clean litter box plus sweeping up scattered litter on the floor. She helps mom by brings in the mail and papers too.

I need to go hide now. It makes her feel bad when she can't love on me before she goes..that's why I do it. Show her!

Uh oh

My human is mad at me. This is the first time I have known her to be actually angry with me. I can tell that she is. It's very foreign to me. I'm unsure what to do.

I usually make her sad when she has a hard time getting me into my carrier and to the Vet. This time, I got immediately under the recliner and she could not move it sufficiently to get me out from under there. She'd gone thru shutting the bedroom doors so I would not be inaccessible under the beds and had other things blocked in the living room. But I remembered from the last time and I immediately got under the chair knowing full well she could not move it.

I heard her say as she left the house immediately afterward "Fine, I give up!!" and she left.

By and by she came back and I knew she was angry with me so instead of staying under the bed (she gave up and opened the doors to all the bedrooms) I came out and spoke nicely to her. She refused to look at me or speak. I brushed against her..still she was silent and would not touch me. She got up and went into another room. I followed trying to make it up with her but she refused to speak or look at me.

I went to the bathroom and laid against my water dish. That hurt her heart so she spoke and asked if I wanted my tiny sip of milk. I made a pitiful small sound and got up to follow her. I got my milk and after a while longer, she kissed my head and spoke into my ears.

I wish I wouldn't do that to her..she is trying so hard to help me. Some unkind people have said that I am only an Admiral and that she should be able to handle this. Those folks have never had a similar situation I am sure. I do not know what is next. Nothing I suppose as she has given up after 5 false starts.

Good Grief!

A friend of my human mom says " There's no such thing as a good grief!" But still I say good grief! Because I am being a 9.8 pound pest is why I say it. I was whining a few minutes ago asking for something to eat. She went on and gave me a small helping of Fancy Feast. After scarfing that down, I went down the hall honking and snorting..blowing my horn which is what she calls my incessant meows after a meal. No idea why I do that but I do and it makes everyone just shake their heads at the un-necessary fuss I make for no discernible reason.

So she reached down to pet me as I was doing a circle around her and I slunk down close to the floor to avoid her petting hand. I still acted as though I wanted company but again, when I went to the little steps to climb up next to her lap, I carefully stayed down on the first step so as to avoid her petting me! So near and yet so far. That must be my motto today. See the picture of the computer room and my little set of stairs she bought for me to your right. Picture me..on the bottom step! Under the desk is a ceramic cat someone gave her, that isn't me.

Poor mom has been extraordinarily short on sleep as due to a malfunctioning medicine pen that administers my medicine to the inside skin of my ear, I was getting too little medicine and so I have regressed a little which means meowing before get up time.. Instead of 2 days off a week from meds, mom has had to try to get me caught up again by giving me the medicine every day.

Oh well..I should stop complaining. Things could be worse..she could reach down and pet me against my royal will!

I win!

My Goodness what a day!

Oh, never in a bad way. Just I surprised my human mom by staying out from under the bed most all of the day. AND I demanded though quietly and politely, that the front door remain open most of the day that she was here and not gone, so that I could position myself right in front of that door to gaze out at my realm. When I'm not on the high seas, I like to keep a weather eye on those querulous squirrels. Wait. That's my human mom who is querulous with the squirrels..not they with her. But nonetheless, I like to keep them tamped down and intimidated by my large and imposing presence. I think my Admiral's hat causes them pause as well.

The open door leaves the thermostat in the hallway maybe 8 feet from the door vulnerable to whims of the hot day outside. She probably will not let me do that tomorrow. The feels-like temperature here in this town is 100.

She took some pictures of me that are not technically good. BUT she kept them anyway because the brilliant late afternoon sun created a nimbus around my fine self. She wanted to capture that sunny nimbus at the expense of not having a technically good picture. My goodness. That woman loves me. I love her as well. At least I am not jealous when others are here to take her time and attention. I know I am the one who is still standing when all is said and done. I have caused her to post that picture above for us.

Furry kitty hugs and kitty kissies to all of you. As for her..she said "Bye!"

Wish I could take off my robe

It's going to be a feels like of 100 degrees tomorrow they say and Sunday as well. Mom keeps me inside at all times so I am always as cool as I can be what with this heavy long fur coat on all the time. Her sons say to have me shaved. Now what would that look like? If I were to go out of doors, perhaps. As it is, I maintain my beauty no matter what her sons say.

This is the third day in a row with no rain. No one knows how to act! I know mom mentioned in her own blog that the weather man confirmed what she already knew..it has truly rained half of the year. The number of sunny days and rainy days are equal, believe it or not. That is a powerful lot of rain.

Mom will have to renew her effort and seal her ears against heart wrenching low pitched howls from me, and gather me up to go to the Vet. I have managed to delay it for several weeks and it's not good for me. I need the blood test to see where I am with my meds. I need a pedicure too as I won't allow Mom to do it. I need a few mats shaved out of my coat as for several months I would not allow her to brush me. I have permitted brushing for two and a half weeks now. I look a lot better but there are mats on my tummy. So I will have to deal with that.

Other than that, she and I bid you a good night. We are tired and we intend to do a little reading before an early bedtime.

My Friend

My friend Miss Patches Spoilmelots got punted last night. I am here to tell her that I too have been punted every once in awhile. It is the fate of all of we little ones with pointed ears and beautiful meows to be punted sometimes.

My human mom dies a thousand deaths every time she accidentally stumbles over me or worse still kicks me (never that hard though) in the dark or when I am hovered right at the back of her ankles. I scream and run to the safety of the under bed chamber and she follows as fast as she can, saying " I'm sorry sweetie, I'm sorry" over and over till she lifts the bed skirt and sees me cowering under the bed. Most 99% of the time I am just within reach and allow her to pet me while she continuously apologizes for hurting me. When she sees me not cowering and she has made the proper apology I show her by staying where she can touch me, that I have easily forgiven her because I know she didn't mean it. I have hurt her too.

One time I got my claw, the "thumb" claw stuck in the pad of her thumb while she was brushing me. I was just going to push her hand away as I had had enough but the claw embedded into the skin and turns out, the pain was so intense she had to see the doctor and keep in under ice till she could. The doctor said I had managed to hit a nerve that ran right through where I accidentally pierced her hand. Poor mom. I know that hurt. I was so sorry. I came into her room right behind her a little later and sincerely snuggled and loved on her. I really hurt her and she loves me so much.

So, these things happen with humans and their little ones when they don't see us. But we remember all the good things and easily forgive.

Cutting her a break

I went into my human mom's room last night and surprised her just as she climbed into bed. For the first time in several months (when I got so sick and started the meds) I finally got into bed with her.

I consider that quite a gift to her as she has had to do without me for weeks and weeks. I became a Sphinx on her chest as always, and then slid off to snuggle into her neck and shoulder..then to hold her forearm with my 2 arms, and I fell asleep with my head on her elbow bend. I had her nailed down into one position knowing full well she would not disturb me.

I felt a little sorry for her as she was so sleepy and had to get up early as I always sound the morning in with my meows. And there I was...holding her softly and she was my loving prisoner. She could not turn out the light or move. That lasted several hours and she got about 5 hours of sleep. She said it's better than 4 hours. She thinks that's funny.

Just wanted to tell you I relented. By the way, you should see my coat now. It was in full disarray with the inroads of the hyperthyroidism but now, my coat has grown more full and glossy once more. I'm quite the beauty.

I still haven't allowed a Vet visit. She will sneak up, grab me and stuff me into that prison and take me..I just know it. No sleeping with her then for months! Wait and see!!
