Good Day

I have been up in her bed a lot today. I love it there. I did not however, go sleep with her last night. I have no idea why I deny myself that warmth BUT this morning after I made sure she was awake by shouting at her..I did lay there with my back on hers..soaking up the warmth. She loved it. I have her by the hair on her head. I can do no wrong.

She has something that will keep my fur out of her keyboard now. She finally found a place that makes keyboard skins for laptops. She got it today and she's typing on it as I speak (I am dictating what she should write). When she changed the battery in the mouse two days ago, she dug fur out it it, too. She also bought a monitor cover but she is a little wary about getting it out of its protective cover in order to apply it. So, it is still in here repining on top of the printer.

She has her fifth birthday bash today and that will come close to the last. Just 2 more to go.

I declare that my human mom slept poorly last night. Go figure. I know that she would sleep better however paralyzed into one position she would be if I would just go up there the way I always used to. No idea what my problem is.

I'm just keeping my claw in here. My ship has stopped taking on water for now. Ahoy!! Avast me hearty's. I am going to have my fur braided so as to strike terror into evil doers everywhere.

Mom and me

Tell you what! Amazing how quickly I return to old habits when the weather cools down. Last night, I refused to sleep with mom again but..as soon as she piled out of bed this morning and got the thing made..I was standing by to get into it. She has my favorite rose colored heavy blanket on and my red fleece blanket too that is at the foot of the bed. I have my choice, so I chose my blanket after making sure nothing else was better. Last night she got all tickled as she wandered into the room and found me, after months absence, up on the counterpane atop her jammies, sound asleep. That woman needs to get a life. She gets enchanted over everything I do..just because I am soft, warm, and gorgeous.

It got down to 47 last night and the inside of the house was 67 when I meowed her awake for my breakfast. Just exactly right for sleeping and later this afternoon, I finally...again after months, got up into the chair with her for a nap. She got up later and of course, I spread out into the entire chair. Now she can't get in it. Ha. Ha.

She is checking to see if the heat works as sometimes she has to call the folks to check it. See ya later.

Ahoy. Avast. Arrrrr.

Like...

Like we are about to drown here. These are 4 weeks of rain each day. Monday will start the 5th week but I heard Mom say that it is supposed to stop after Monday. This is why we are turning in to! (mom took this at the Marina)

We have mushrooms and toadstools growing on everyone's lawns and on wood surfaces. there is algae everywhere and plaques of fungi that look like shelves, grown on the trees. Flooding everywhere around here and other Counties, but where I live and have my litterbox, we are way up on a hill so we aren't concerned about that for our own home.

It has rained so hard for so long today mom has not even ventured out. That never happens, but it did today. For me, I have spent some time dozing in front of the screen door looking at the driving rain.

She had a wonderful birthday yesterday though. One of her sons took her to supper and gave her a beautiful jade necklace on a black cord..and two black T's from New Zealand and a router so that she can leave this room with the computer. And a big cleaning brush for that huge bird feeder..the motorized one that spins squirrels off of it when they touch it.

She was so happy to have his company for awhile and one of her other sons called too..the one in N.C. She'll see the third son this weekend coming. Life is good.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Mom's birthday. She won't tell me which one. I think that's unfair because she knows how old I am! She thinks I will spill the beans here in my blog. I probably would.

She could have gone to see her middle son for her birthday weekend but he asked late in the week to make arrangements easily and more still, she isn't feeling too well. It's a simple matter and she went to the doctor today. I know because she got ME up at 6 so she could be dressed and ready to roll for her appt at 8. She takes very very little medicine but now she has one. It will set things to right.

I am on my back in the doorway asleep enjoying the light on my belly. Mom is, as directed by me, typing for me. She wrote something about me in her blog today. I think I annoy her with where I lay down.

See you after the festivities.

Week is going by slowly

Today my human mom was up on her favorite thing, that noisy treadmill which made me have to go for a nap in my room. She'll be up there again tomorrow morning I know but Thursday she will be at a very early appt. with her Dr. The awful hour of 0815. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do, she said, despite thinking she can handle everything.

She has a birthday Friday. Mine is in December. We will celebrate mine more than hers. I know one of her sons is coming over after work. She will enjoy that visit.

I haven't been fussing much over my medication. I wonder why? But she is glad, I can sense that easily.

Going to get busy here in a few moments. I just wanted to wave my beautiful plume of a tail at you before the day ended.

Whisker tickles to you.

My kitty dreams

Well, my goodness. I asked my human mom to place an especially well posed and considered portrait (not a picture..a portrait) of me in Flickr. The purpose is to lure my Honey of choice, Pete, into noticing me. I feel that Emmit may have forgotten me as I haven't heard from him lately although I keep is State Portrait of him that was sent by his own claws, close to my little fleece oval shaped bed. However, back to my portrait. I had mom upload my divalicious likeness to Flickr where Pete would see it and the lure worked! Pete's mom left a comment that she had shown Pete my likeness and that he is in love.
Oh, he is so handsome with his dark rust colored racing stripes all over his sleek orange self. Mom would put his picture here for me to show off but she can't as his pictures, as are mine, are copywrited. But trust me, he is a handsome dashing fella worthy of my attention.
For my portrait, I was well brushed to a gleaming shine. My long hair forms soft curls on my deep cream tummy and the ends of my soft pink toes. They, my little curls, were burnished with a brush that was made to enhance my beauty. My cream colored chin and chest cascaded into a smooth as satin glory and looked like cream poured out into a priceless porcelain dish. My coat was satiny smooth shades of gray and cream and touches of deep orange with a few subtle deep gray racing stripes of my own. I knew when I posed with my gorgeous eyes upturned, that I could and would capture his heart.
I hope Pete has my beautiful likeness firmly in mind as I do not like competition! He won't see mom's blog as he doesn't know about it so I can tell you all about my campaign to dazzle Pete.

Oh my..

My dignity aside, I told my human Ma that I don't really mind her mentioning my snoring. She is sitting there smiling now as I type. My snores are charming if I say so myself. Just wee little sounds and somehow reassuring that all is well.

OK. I confess. I am asleep in my basket, tightly wound up in it and snoring to beat the band and I told her to do this blog for me. Cat snoring is a vital topic and needs to be dealt with so rather than wait till I am awake and alert..and as those two things not always happening concurrently, I told her to just get on with it and type in my stead. I have final approval before she hits send anyway. I know she wants to do a video of that with sound of course so that others may enjoy my tones as well. However her Nikon SLR does not do videos. Even if it did, by the time she got up and readied the camera I would be shaken from my slumbers and no longer snoring.

She, Ma and I have fallen head over heels in love with Pete, one of the two orange brothers whose male feline forms are in FLickr all the time. Pete's mom is one of my mom's contacts. I have sat in her lap and I have seen Pete with his fine orange coat and deep orange racing stripes all over...oh, be still my heart!!! He can groom me any time!!! You should see his claws. I almost fell off mom's lap!!! His mom took a picture of his paw only, close up and his claws dug into a blanket. Pitter patter my heart! Whew..is it hot in here or is it me?

Mom said she wasn't going to type any more of that..and that if I had farther to say, to wake up and do it myself! Humph! Think I will sleep with her tonight?? I think not! Show her!

I was wondering

My human mom and I were wondering if we should continue this blog..(she just assists me sometimes is all) as it seems that Blogspot may not be too particular who it lets through. I have had two things. One trojan horse and another anomaly following. We're not sure what to do now.

But I have had a quiet day. Too quiet to suit mom. I didn't even fuss when she gave me my medicine. If I am that quiet tomorrow...I may be buying myself another trip to the Vet.

However..moving on, I will let you know how I fare.

Ahoy!

Trojan Horse..by the Admiral's Mom

How intriguing! I was told by my professional computer programmer son that Blog Spot has some on-going issues with malware. Yesterday when I went to "sign in" and then to "Dashboard"..there was a url that said "Rambling Blog from the Bearded One". I thought that is was different...meaning that Blogspot arranged to visit the next blog function differently and so stupidly, I clicked on it. I saw a picture of a really ugly man with an unkempt beard..some nonsense was on the so-called blog but this only lasted like..two seconds worth of viewing because my McAfee immediately activated..gave a quick notice that it caught and destroyed a trojan horse. I backed out of here and went to McAfee and indeed it had gotten it and removed it.

Just when you think you won't do something dumb like that, you do. I did, anyway. I'll speak for myself. So, beware. Your second page of your blog may be rearranged and that should be your clue!!! Good thing I had a strong defense. It's gone and that's what counts.

The Admiral begs to say that she slept with me two nights in a row and last night, she didn't..the little stinker! Her favorite son of mine will be here this weekend. She'll get lots of attention. (that is why he is a favorite).

How About that?

I will be switched if I didn't come on in to mom's bed right after she got in it last night all by myself. And I asked her why she was layin' on both pillows propped up reading when one of them is clearly mine. Never mind that I have not chosen to lay my hind end and tail across it while draping my gorgeous front end all over her face and neck. It should always be there, empty and prepared for me. So, I came in, jumped up and waited till she quickly got MY pillow out from under her and laid it the way it's supposed to be....that is north to south..not east to west. I get between the pillows, lay my plume of a tail across MY pillow and then my front legs are on her pillow and her face along with my sweet face inching its way up to lay against hers. Oh she loves that. If I asked for a hundred dollars she'd give it to me she is so enchanted with my soft silky face next to hers..notwithstanding my purrs.

She talked to me a while and then fell asleep. So did I. She'll wait for that tonight but you know how I am. I'll probably ask her to wait an indeterminate time before I do that again. Maybe come Winter when the wonderful deep red heavy fleece blanket comes out I will always be there.
And to think she complained last Winter that I caused her to be paralyzed into an uncomfortable position when I laid on her. Whose sorry now? Snicker snicker.

Oh I know I shouldn't be that way..she really takes great care of me. I will see what I want to do later.

That is me squeezed sideways into a chair with a canvas cover on it against my copious fur. Not flattering but mom thinks I'm cute. Sigh.

I may put out to sea here shortly. In case I do..ahoy!

Mom said the lens hood shadow is showing in this picture..she accidentally had it on Auto instead of A for Aperture and so the on board flash activated despite me facing into the driving afternoon sun. She corrected that for the next shot but meanwhile, she allowed this one to remain un deleted. She loves my feminine shape so displayed and my glossiness.

I almost felt sorry for her last evening. She had a good day and she was extremely active..in a great mood..felt fine and when she went to bed as happens too often she could not go to sleep right away. When she did fall asleep she later felt her eyes pop open in the dark and she looked to see it was 0300 hrs. She laid awake a long time but with her eyes closed, thinking. I did not come in to sleep with her. I know in retrospect that would have helped her relax.

However..she eventually fell asleep until I waked her at 0700. Some days are just like that. Some nights, that is. She has too many.

Good Grief!

Well, I didn't go snuggle with mom last night BUT she had a decent sleep and I think that went a long way toward making her feel better.

She got up this morning..damp and dreary morning again, and just got up on the treadmill and did her duty & a lot faster--- and she raised the weights back again(poundage) or her weight lifting. I will be bound..she felt tons better. She was in the kitchen a little while ago with that thing she calls an ironing board and doing the ironing she only does perhaps three times a year. I saw her smiling, can you believe it? She likes to iron. Just there isn't much to iron.

Other than that, I made it hard for her to give me my meds this morning. I wish I knew what on earth makes me so uncooperative. It's not like it hurts. A gentle stroke of a felt tipped applicator to the pink of my ear. What's to go on about I have to ask myself!! She just took off and left the house after deciding she would catch me unaware. She did. End of tale. Tail?

I think I'll go eat worms

I said that, the title, for mom. She is not in a good humor. I am, but she's not. It's rare for her to be out of sorts. I will consider if I want to go in and snuggle with her at bedtime. I may..it always makes her smile. She likes my warmness, the purring against her ear and the whiskers tickling her cheek when mine is up against hers. I may be rationing those out a little too much.

She's had a few disappointments too...that adds into it but she swore me to no more information than I have already said.

The house is still sparkling clean from her cleaning yesterday. So, it can't be anything *I* have done. Maybe she should call her brothers this evening.

You're right Myst..our Mommy's are so good to us and protect us from everything. They worry when we get sick and they are afraid we won't and don't understand when visits to the Vet have to happen and we are uncomfortable or get hurt there. And I sense she doesn't like going there because she is concerned about what she may hear. I can't reassure her.

But, I can make things better when I hop up and lay down with my head on her shoulder. It takes her cares away. And mine. It's a two way street.

At Last!

Mom made my day and night. She never has a blanket on her bed during the hot months of course..just the sheets. And she always uses premium sheets which are smooth and silky feeling. But as a cat, I can't say that I particularly care for them. I love her red colored thick fleece blanket. That however, is folded and waiting for the advent of cool weather.

Yesterday though, she brought out another fleece item, MY throw. She bought me a fleece throw last Winter to go over her fleece blanket so my coating of fine premium fur would not be so thick on her bedding to where she has to clean it off each night before bed. (Personally, I thought she looked great in fur! Humph!) So, I started to repose on the throw she placed on the bed.

Time came when the throw was folded and put away too. Well, I guess I showed her. I have typed in my blog here several times that she despairs of me ever sleeping with her again. However, she brought out my throw and put it on the bed. She put me on it. I sniffed it for perhaps 3 minutes making sure it was mine and took a long and satisfying nap on it.

Last night, I showed my gratitude. Just as she was about to cease reading and turn out the light..I jumped up onto the bed..hesitated a second on my throw but came up and snuggled with her just like old times. You should have heard me purr too. I stayed even after she eventually turned out the light (usually my signal to leave!)

She may have to remind me that it's still on the bed after she made the bed this morning. I want to stay in a good mood after all.

One of her sons is staying the night so she will cook supper for him. I enjoy him being here and always greet him and stay where he is because he loves me. And he pays attention to me..that's the key. I get to see him more than the other two..makes a difference in my attitude.

I hoe you have purrs in your day.

Expect good

That's what mom always says...expect good. And learn to recognize it in all of its forms. You would be surprised upon reflection to learn that you have very little bad in your life. And if you happen to be experiencing something not particularly to your liking..examine it and see what you need to learn. We do have lessons in life you know. No one escapes that. No one slips by without something to shape us and make us better. That's not bad. That's good when we learn from it and then, we move on when we demonstrate that we have learned what we need to and are the better for it. Trust. It really is all good, just as the saying goes.
And today, September 1, would have been my Dad's birthday were he alive. He left us too soon as did my mother. Dad, I still love you and cherish your memory. I always will.
