Mom got home and as always I was first. I think I'll keep her! She got on the floor with me as soon as she turned off the alarm, and I got my petting, kisses and talking. After a time of that I permitted her to go out and bring in the tons of stuff she brought home. LOOK at this fan she bought that she absolutely could not resist. The picture is taken with natural daylight from the wondow. No flash involved. It's that burnished. It will be in one of the bedrooms. This was taken in the living room.
MOM HERE: I want you all's opinion about something please. While in Charlotte we went to a large pet store there. I won't write its name here because they didn't do what I am about to say. We wanted to look at all of the cats up for adoption. Since my son knows one of the volunteers who feed/pet/groom them, we three got to hold some babies of 12 weeks of age, three adorable babies, and we tried to pet some adult kitties too. Guess why we had a hard hard time doing that? Some stupid @%*# woman had her two medium sized dogs with her. They were jumping and barking loudly right at the cages..inches from the cat's faces. They were on a leash but she had them right against the cages where all of the cats were, kittens and adults. The cats were frightened. Not making it up. There was meowing and moaning (from the adult cats) going on..shying away, cowering and so on.
I asked one of the kitties " What's wrong, baby?" and that stupid jerk with the dogs said "Oh, it's the dog scaring them! I want the dogs to get used to cats!" (the poor helpless cats being terrorized because it suited HER...and it did NO good for the dogs anyway) I won't go thru and give you all the back and forths between me, the volunteer and that stupid woman and her barking lunging dogs. The volunteer tried..oh she tried hard but she had/has no authority. The store manager should have put a stop to that. I am very angry about it. I felt like putting my defense skills to use and kicking her hind end out of the store. OK. Thanks Admiral..I just had to say it.

Grrrrrrrrr! That person was a do-do-head! I am sad that the poor kitties had to be skerred like that.
Miss Admiral! We missed you SO SO SOOOOOOO much. We love the fan your Mom bought. Now sitr on her and make her stay at home where she belongs.
I think a strongly worded letter is in order to the companies headquarters, and also to the rescue groups that foster and put the cats up for adoption. Maybe a phone call as well, to follow up. That woman was out of line, but if there isn't any store policy against harrassing the animals, it's (technically) OK. Some people are just plain stupid and I feel badly for the woman's dogs.
I love the fan your Mom bought, sweet Admiral. We missed you very much and we're glad Mommy is home.
That woman was awful to put it mildly.
xoxo Kassey and her Mom
Blogger ate my long comment. Maybe tomorrow or later I will write it again.
LOVE the fan!
That's NOT the way to socialize cats with dogs. What about a letter to the shelter that has its cats there for adoption?
Poor kitties...the pet store is not the place to socialize dogs and cats. Shame on that lady for allowing her dogs to frighten those sweet kitties, they were probably already nervous being they are not in a loving home and then to have to go through that. I would have spoken to the store manager had I been in that situation.
That is a cool clock.
Enjoy your mom being back sweet Admiral. Hugs and nose kisses
That is such a cool fan that your Mom found on the trip Admirial.
It might be good to write to the store about the women to ask what their policy is and see if they would be more proactive next time.
What a neat fan. Is the your personal kitty fan when you get too warm? Some people just don't use the brain the good Lord gives them.
that was awful!! The poor kitties were already scared being in cages with humans staring at them all day and being locked up and all. Then to have those woofies right at eye level like that....that wasn't right. I am sorry though I think the store is somewhat to blame that they didn't put a stop to it. Have you contacted the store's manager? I would. Not in the sense to get someone in trouble but maybe they could put up some kind of sign by the cats saying that that type of insensitive behavior will not be tolerated!
Some people are beyond ignorant!
Ending on a bright note, I have never seen anything like that fan and I am COMPLETELY in love with it!
xoxoxo
What an inconsiderate (*^%$**^$#@! The ignorance of some people is just astounding.
However, that fan is adorable!
That is absolutely terrible. Those poor terrified kitties. Hind sight is always better than foresight, but I think I would have marched up to the store manager and told him to do something about the situation. Unbelieveable.
Absolutely LOVE that fan. It's great, useful, and a real conversation piece.
My human would have gone right up to the manager herself and complained quite loudly! She once saw a human with his dog sniffing and barking at the rescue cat enclosure at a pet store where she shops (no one was looking to adopt at that time, the cats were just spending the week there), and she almost said something to the owner. She didn't and has regretted it ever since. She is STILL furious and this was weeks and weeks ago! So she is done staying silent about this sort of thing. People who do stupid things with their pets (no matter if it's a dog, cat, lizard or whatever) should not even have pets. Grrr.
Wow, what a pretty and unique fan! Your Mom has exquisite taste, Admiral!
As for the dog lady, that makes me so mad! There are correct ways to introduce animals to eachother, and that's certainly not it! Store management definitely should have asked her to move/leave.
Mom says the lady who runs the Cat adoptions we help at would have made those dog lovers leave her cats alone. She is not afraid to speak her mind, and there have been arguments. Mainly about people who want to adopt and then they find out they are going to declaw and she WILL NOT adopt to someone who says that they are going to do that. There have been terrible arguments about this issue, but she won't do it. (HURRAH!)
That was really wrong of that stoopid hooman to do that and scare the cats.
Welcome back Miss Admiral!

That store manager should get his butt kicked as well for allowing those dogs near the Cats.
First I'm so happy your Mom is back, and second, my Dad would have hgad a real hissy fit too, he's good at that!
Oh Admiral I am happy for you that your Mommy is home! My Human has seen a very similar fan in a catalog she gets and she's still thinking about buying it. It might be kind of nice--then when we get together, we can stretch out and cuddle in front of the same fan!
Oh, and that Human in the BigBoxPetStore? She oughta be put in a cage while some really big bears snap at her. Or maybe some sharks.
Spitty..I LIKE the way you think. Brian, I had a hissy, trust me.
I am glad mom is home to be with you Admiral as I know how much you missed her.
The fan is beautiful, so unique.
xoxo
Admiral's mommy, we woulda been MAD too!! How dare that person bring her woofies and scare the kitties!! That's cruel!!!
BTW, we like that fan...it's really cool!! Haha!!
Dearest Admiral Hestorb and Mom,
We had to get Kozmo at one of "those" stores. Mommy and Daddy droved 2 hours up to get him and then had to come home and go up the next day as the Manager refused to call the Humane Society. Said it was NOT his job! Me thinks that the peoples they hire has no brains.
Me wants your fan!!!
Kisses
Nellie
There are a lot of bone headed people out there.
We're glad your mom is home and we really like the kitty fan!
As for the idiot in the store, our mommy would have been mad too. She feels so bad that the kitties were scared because of something so stupid and preventable. It's crazy that person thought it was helping the dogs be used to cats to scare them while they are in cages. Your mom should write a letter to the store manager plus the CEO or someone high up in the chain for that store. The organization who has the cats should know too. Our local pet store has kitties for the humane society but they are in their own room where no dog can get close to them.
Your fan is really cute Admiral, My mom want one of those !
About The evil woman want her dogs to get used to cats, do at home ! Not a Pet Store ! Report the manager should be the best thing to do. and they should have the sign " Dogs Not Allowed in Cat Section "
xoxo
PS : Don't your mom want to look for the kittens in the shelter ?
That woman wif the woofies makes me so mad! Those poor kitties must haf been so scared. The store manager should haf done something! I fink your mama should write a strongly worded letter about it.
We agree with Katnip Lounge that you should write. The woman's behaviour was inexcusable but so was the store's.
Welcome home, Admiral's Mom! That fan is fab!!!
Purrs,
The Chans
I would definitely talk to the store manager, that is unacceptable!!!
The fan is fantastic :-)
Maybe the cops should have been called in because that was animal cruelty.
What a lovely surprise the Cats fan, I knew your mum get some thing for you:-)
I would be upset about ignorant woman st the store.
I'm so happy to your mum come home safe.
You have a relax day with your mum lots of fun too.
xoxox
Oh those poor cats - we know if wasn't the dogs fault although the owner should never done that.
We hope she gets poops on her pillow.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
We are glad your mom is home and we knew you would be the most important things she loved on!! Love the fan too...
As too stupid people, it is just too bad. They think that just cause the cats are behind glass that it is ok - no it isn't!! How would you like it? And besides, all you taught your dogs is that it is ok to bark at cats....dumb lady and shame on the store for letting it happen!
Ridiculous! Those poor babies :(
Welcome back!
That woman with the dogs should have them taken away from her. She's not a fit pet owner. Did she want them to get used to cats because she's thinking of adopting a cat? or maybe she already has cats. She is NOT a responsible pet owner and hopefully one of the her neighbors will report her. You should def write the shelter who houses the pets there AND the local animal welfare org. so that the store isn't allowed to keep cats unless they are treated humanely.
Hello Miss Admiral,,, we glad your mom iz back home wit you ^..^ and we and mom too thinkz da fan iz Really Cool ^..^
