Kitties! I have had several cats ask me where I got my name. This may be a bit lengthy because my mommy runs off at the keyboard and because I do too.
MSN Spaces has pulled the plug on their blogs and transported everyone to Word Press; but until then, on Mom's blog on (MSN) Space she had a long running commentary on me--blogging about 2 or so times a week about what I was doing.
In that commentary I was always called Miss Catt instead of my actual name, and the continuing Spring and Summer battles of the squirrels VS the bird feeder and our flower bulbs that were pulled up and eaten by the squirrels- and my trips to the Vet- were detailed several times a week.
During the many stories of me and my (imaginary) battles with the squirrels, one of the very talented members of my blog family then, (his name is Boston Boy and he comes to see me here too) created many funny illustrations to go with the on-going battles between the squirrels and the birds- with me at the helm leading the charge. One day, he sent me an illustration of me wearing an Admiral's hat (I still use that as my avatar, the little one you see when I reply on your blogs) and I was referred to as The Admiral and that is how I came by the name.
I was referred to by the name "Admiral" (Hestorb) so often that it has, in essence, become my name, even here in the house and at the V-e-t.
I have shortened imy story up a lot in this telling. If you Google my name Admiral Hestorb, I am the first one to come up. That's really me as my human brother has me as an important character in his long running Journal called Schulmania. That is a story about a Country populated by nothing but cats and how they rule their Country.
The last thing I will add is I have a Museum (my human brother made it) and the link is on the left hand side of my page here, looks messy but it works.
The End

Hello, my Dearest! Thank you for this really great story....but it does not answer the most important part of the Human's question: Where did the "Hestorb" part come from? Honestly, please publish Part II because I can tell she's just not going to stop pestering me to ask you about it.
Sigh.

OMG - I just came back from your Museum and read all about it. WOW, you are royalty for sure. Maybe I should bow down in your presence. Better tell your ooman brother to quite sluffing off and get busy on your kingdom again.
That's a great story of how you got such a special name Admiral! Your human brother's story sounds very interesting too!
Oh. thank you Admiral! My Human was too lazy to read all the previous comments but I commanded her to return and do so! And now the mystery is solved :-)
What does your human brother teach? My Human has taught English for, gulp, like 40 years!
Admiral, thanks for sharing that with us. We always wondered how you came by your unusual name.
It is always nice to hear the back story.
Hi Admiral! We think that is interesting about your name, and also about how your human brother wrote about you - we are totally going to google to see if you really are first!
What a wonderful story.
Hello Admiral. I'm back. I enjoyed my trip through your museum. Thank you for the mention. If I can contribute in any way to your museum please let me know. I am ready just in case there's another battle with the squirrels or any other enemy that dares to counter your authority.
We love this story! None of us have ever gotten really cool names with really cool stories behind them. Phooey.
Dear Admiral Hestorb,
Me wishes me had a museum and a country, but then me would not be me. But because you has, you is you!
Me thinks you is marvelous, particularly after me went through the museum.
Thanks for sharing the tail of your name
Nellie
I'm glad you did this post, Admiral because I was wondering where you got your unusual (yet awesome!) name from! I luv it!
