Kitties, I wish I could explain why I do that almost constant pawing motion at the water dish. I have 2 dishes. One is in the bathroom and that is the one I like best because the one in the kitchen where my fuds are..I tend to mess the water up by dropping in dry cat fuds. So, my main drinking water is in the bathroom. I say that because I have scratched off the color and design on the linoleum in the bathroom where my dish is and...for good measure I also end my scratching stroke on and up the baseboard! So I have scratched the white paint off the baseboard too. It's a tiny bathroom so my bowl has to stay pretty much where it is.
I wanted to say that the human words I understand (after fruitlessly attempting to teach mommy the Cat language!) are pretty much "Kiss?" "Come here" (said pleasingly pleadingly) "breakfast"? "supper?" "play?" "I'm gonna git'cha!" "Boo!" "sleepy" and I know "Brush?" and that's about it. I will creep toward mom in the night night time for that weakly worded "kiss?" and get the darned kissy. Sheesh. That woman is a kissing fool. I KNOW she embarrasses me by sneaking in stuff like that to other kitties when I go to their bloggies! Kitties..she does that WITHOUT my permission. I'm sorry she is so obsessed with kissing the furs off of our heads! Oh and when she says "I'm gonna GET'CHA!" I run down the hallway. ♥♥♥

You understand more than we do, Admiral. All we hear is "Nicki...blah blah blah" or "Derry...blah blah blah."
We understand the human's tone of voice, though! :-D

We kitties are smart and pick up on human words real fast. Sweet Admiral, I don't get to scratch anything because some human had my claws removed.
I have a bowl besides my fountain. The fountain has to be cleaned often and it's on the fud room counter now empty.
Keep having fun with Mom.
Love, Kassey
Hey, you like your water however you please sweet one and paw'd is just fine! I understand quite a few words too, play and brush are my favs!
Our favourites words are Brekkie, Dinner, Supper and Snuggles. We don't like vet, NO, Down. Does mum pay attention to this - not one jot!!
Luv hannah and Lucy xx xx
Greetings,
My water is in the kitchen but I also help myself to the bird bath on the deck when I am outside. Then there is bucket in the shower used for collecting the cold water for the garden, dad's real cool when it comes to conservation and recycling.
Dad and I communicate real good. I trained him and he listened.
Now what is this about not having any pictures for the calendar. Be optimistic and give it a shot.
Warmest regards,
Miss Kitty and Egmont
Wow Admiral ! You understand lots of human words !!!
I just listen three words " Puddy ", " Dinner ", " Love You "
xxx
It sounds like you are a determined paw-er! One of our cats-who-came-before like to drop food in the litter box. Mommeh said she was making "stinky stew"!
I think you have everything pretty much under contol Admiral. I know you work very hard to keep mom in line.
Mom thinks I know two things in English only: "lie down Simba" when I am standing next to her on the sofa or by the computer, and "trickie?" - if she has treats for me I am reluctantly willing to sit up and take them from her hand. You are clearly much smarter than I am, Admiral. Mom loves the idea you will come for kissies.
Your pawing is interesting. What are you trying to cover up?
Admiral - you are so cute. I just love dat pawing while you are drinking water. It's your individual style I guess. I'm impressed with your large vocabulary. I even refuse to come when my name is called. Sometimes M gets me to come if she calls my name and jiggle the treat container, but mostly I ignore most works. (M always says I'm not the brightest kitty they've had). I just say I'm very independent and do my own thing!!
Kittie have scent markers on their paws, so perhaps the Admiral is trying to mark the area around the water bowl as her own. The bathroom would have a very strong scent from the humans who use it, due to its function.
So, maybe another place would be better for the primary water bowl, if you can find one.
You are very intelligent to understand the human language, Admiral! Dante knows a lot of English, too -- and he loves to kiss, just like you do. He comes up to his Mama when she's lying on the couch and offers up his lips for a peck.
We don't understand too many words around here, but we sure know what it means to hear a can open or a bag zip open. We refuse to drink water that is not fresh. Keep enjoying your water and scratching...we cats gotta do what we gotta do. Hugs and nose kisses
WE don't understand the words but we sure know her tone of voice. We know when she is happy or mad. We also like to mess in the water bowl. WE don't have a fountain. Take care and have a good evening.
I think it would be fun to have a fountain but That Woman has put her foot down since the one someother person gave her leaked all over the carpets. What is it about humans and wet carpet? You'd think they'd be happy it was gettin a bath... Sheesh!
Good think you can talk to your human. You have worked hard!
xoxo

My Human says one of the Kitties That Came Before was just like you! He just HAD to be pawing while he drank. It is a Mystery, she says. I bet YOU know why you do it, but why should you tell the Humans?
And, by the way, yes--I WAS all tousled from our visit. Don't tell Roo-Boy, ok?
THANK YOU for this awardie. Miles and I are tremendously honored WOW!!
Congratulations on receiving this awardie too, Missie A.H.
When my mom reaches down to snatch us, we run too.
I can't even discuss the kissing stuff. Mom is a kissing pest.
bonks and bronkies to you
Miss Admiral
I know "cookies"!
I know cookies real well.
Mom says you want some cookies and I am like THERE!
You have a very well understanding of your Mom's language!

That kissing thing is something Au loathes and Target loves. You are a shy yet proud lady, Admiral, that's for sure! But you're so cute, who could resist smooching?
Hi Admiral san :-)
I say "Kawaii" (means "cute" in Japanese) to my kids a lot. And "I love you." A lot, a lot! You may find I am a kissing fool, too. Well, many moms who have fur babies are, I think :-)
I wonder why you are scratching like that? You are only scratching in the bathroom?
We know "eat" and "bug". They kinda go together, don't they??
@ Caren-- Only in the bathroom. I can't in the kitchen water bowl because mommy has a non slip BIG water proof mat over top of newspaper where my water is because I will drag my dish to the middle of the floor and slop water all over. I put my hand in and drag it wherever I want to. The kitchen floor is Pergo so Mommy has to keep standing water off. Wait till I blog about the pawty I had and all the thugs I invited while mom was on the midnight shift!
That's quite a list of words, Admiral! I'm impressed!
You are a very smart ladycat Admiral! We don't let on that we know too many words but that's because our big sisfur Sadie has a huge vocabulary so we just follow along. We do have our own special words that we understand that mean nothing to a woofie though.
Perhaps you could give us a lesson or two in kitty language. Would that be called Catalian, Catlish or catonese?
A lot of humans think that they are control kitty
but non of them are other way around:-)
including your mum though you would understand other countries language too?
Just you don't used them:-)
Next one is learnt typing ha ha ha
xoxoxo
Oh nooooo!!!!! You drag your water bowl? You are an incredibly brilliant girl! More brilliant than I already knew that you were! Uh-oh! I was advised NOT to get Pergo for the kitchen (I just had vinyl put in the kitchen) for the very reason you mentioned (possible standing water!). Your poor Mommy!!!!! xoxoxo
Admiral, thank you so much for giving me my first ever award! It's awesome!
I know a few words. I know my name, and come here, and what's the matter, and have you been to the toilet, and are you hungry. She always asks questions cuz I like to talk so much. I don't always respond to them, but she knows I know them because I will when it suits me.
Admiral, I'd say you're either scent marking when you drink, or you're doing what we mummycats do and trying to bury your food and water. When we have kittens we'll often do this in the nest cuz we know the smell can draw predators, and that would put the babies in danger. If it's buried, it can't smell, right?
I have water dishes in at least 3 or 4 places around the house. But I don't drink the stuff! I lap a little milk, that's about it.
Hey, your mom is so like mine. Hahaha, especially that bit about kissing and "I'm gonna GET'CHA!". I let her get me sometimes. Have to humour the mom from time to time, as you know.
I always enjoy updates. Thank you for sharing
Mom says "you think you can take me?" and it's on!
My youngest cat was always weird with the water, I got one of those water fountain thingies and he likes that and a bit less weird with it lol
