Easier on Sunday

I got mommy up this morning which for once, she said she was glad of because I haven't for a week. I always get her up too early until I got sick.

Mom sees I'm not out of the woods yet as I'm still not drinking much and not eating much either that she can tell. I have to go to the v-e-t tomorrow to have another pill to interest me in eating. AND if I turn up dehydrated again, I'll have another fluid assist.

Kitties, mommy got to wondering if all my my hair swallowing has gotten to me at last? Ever since I've had hyperthyroidism..18 months, I have taken my meds but I also developed an allergy to "something" and I itch a lot. Mom has to take me about every 5 weeks for a shot to calm to itching and flakiness. One thing I have been doing because of the itching is pulling out my beautiful furs. I do it when I can't be seen usually but that's circumstance, not on purpose, and I swallow the hair. If mom sees me, she pulls it out of my mouth.

I hardly ever leave hairballs in the house. Hardly ever is a fact. So, I am retaining them in my tummy for however long. I will ask my Dr. if that might have anything to do with my mysterious illness.

Mommy will be in here after awhile to help me go and visit. ♥♥♥

Admiral I am thinking that maybe your Mommy is on to something? Maybe all of that accumulated fur is settling in your tummy and the fact that you aren't having enough fluids might not be making the fur soft enough to come out (or to even come out in the form of a furball). That is interesting. I am wondering what others think.
Tell your Mommy to try the water from canned tuna (just the water)....if she hasn't done that already maybe that will interest you in getting more fluids.
I am glad your Mommy used the suggestion that myself and a few others gave of adding water to your dry food.
Admiral we are pulling for you and remember, don't be too upset at the vet tomorrow. Your Mommy and the doctor are trying to make you feel ALLLLLLL BETTER!!!!
We keep checking frequently for further updates and we thank your Mommy about being so good about keeping us informed.
Much love and healing purrs to you and huge hugs for your Mommy!

Winnie once did this hair-pulling stunt. Our vet checked her and said the cause was stress. She fine now and stopped that stunt.
Our human gives us special tuna-flavoured gel regularly so that we would expel the swallowed fur with our solid waste. Our human gets horrified when we vomit fur.

Just like Caren says our human also gives us tuna water (with bits of mashed tuna) to make us drink more fluid when we needed it.

Healing purrs from all of us.

YES. That was why I asked in an earlier post if they had done an xray for a blockage. It is imperative that be checked immediately. I've been that route and that's what it was, but time is of the essence.

If you've been swallowing that long beautiful hair, I bet it's all clumped up inside you somewhere. My next question would be about your potty habits. But that may be getting too personal. So I'll leave it to the v-e-t.

Zaphoid says, "My fur isn't as long as our late brother Tanis du Qat Dragon Slayer but when he lived with us mom would get special hairball kitty food. She gives us all hairball remedy gel stuff on a regular basis and gives it to us more often when our fur is shedding or she hears one or more of us trying to cough up a hairball and having trouble. I think trying some of that would be a Good Idea™ for our adorable friend Admiral!!"

Star says, "Keep getting better my sweet!!"

Sweet Admiral, we are glad to hear you are behaving more like your normal self. We are sorry you have to go back to the v-e-t tomorrow, but we know mommy only takes you there because she loves you so much, and wants you to be all better.

Please tell mommy that we do think she should ask the v-e-t about her hairball theory. We think it's certainly a possibility.

Purrs, prayers and nose taps

That could be sweet Admiral. We don't feel at all like eating with a full fur tum.

Good call by your mum. Ask for an abdominal x-ray. If the vets says he doesn't think it is necessary, request one anyway. We would have thought you'd have had one. Even if your mums theory proves false, it may reveal some other ailment. Praying hard for you, dear one.

We're glad you're eating and drinking something but you really do need to get your appetite back so your mom can stop worrying.

The Admiral did have a chest and abdomen x-ray but they said at the time they were looking for cancer. I will hope they still have them.

That was very smart of your Mom to think about this. I bet this could be a part of what mystery. We are hoping you will get good news tomorrow when you go to the Vet. We will be purrin!

Admiral, that could be what is going on with you and we're glad your mom thought of it. We don't get rid of our hairballs either so our mommy is always concerned about where it all goes too. We hope the v-e-t is able to figure something out soon!

Admiral, we think that could be possible so your mom should ask the v-e-t about it. We hope you are feeling better and start to eat more.

We hope the vet has kept your x-rays and that it is something as easy as this to remedy. The Queen Bea has this problem and uses the gel to help keep things moving along. It works for her. And it will work for you. Treasure. And the PM sends hugs to your Mama.

Admiral, If you eat your fur, do you think you can eat cat grass after that ? It might help you do ' YAKK' . It's better to keep fur inside your tummy.

By the way , I think the Island Cats was right, ask the VET will be the best idea !

I still purring for you

Swallowed fur may be a possibility. Our vet told Mom to give us butter - we lick it off her finger or oily fish like salmon once a week for hairballs. We don't like most of the gels they sell. Hope you find out something at the vet.

Dear Admiral,
I hope the vet can figure out everything tomorrow. I think that your mommy has hit on a reason that explains your feeling so tough.

Hugs for you and mommy,

Could be fur but I'm also thinking that fur pulling is a sign of nerves/depression - if it's not fleas, ticks, lice etc! Which I'm sure it's not with you, dear Admiral. Are you maybe lonely? Upset?

Admiral Hestorb said...

Dear Kitties,

The fur pulling is from my horrible itching that can only be kept under control with a steroid shot every 5-6 weeks. I am allergic to something. It may be methemazole but I must take it. I am a happy girl and much loved by my mommy. I have the final and last say in the household,. I'm the boss.

I think you should definitely ask the vet about the swallowed fur. It could be part of the problem. I hope you get good news at the vet tomorrow. Herman send healing purrs.

We hope you have a successful visit to the vet today. The swallowed fur has us concerned, too. We will keep our paws crossed with purrs and prayers that the vet will fix you up and you'll be back in tip-top shape!
